Leading with purpose has never been so important as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

The Linfox Australia and New Zealand executive and senior leadership teams met in May to discuss the first-year progress of our Leading the Way 2025 strategy and refine our plans for the next year. Our Linfox Logistics leaders left the annual conference as powerful advocates for our FY22 goals.

The distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine for the Australian Government in New South Wales, Queensland and Australian Capital Territory is well underway. We are proud to be trusted with this vital work to help keep people and communities safe.

Taking it to the streets: Linfox releases the first HHTS-branded trailer in Melbourne.

Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (HHTS) has launched Australia’s first industry led national mental health and wellbeing strategy for the road transport, warehousing and logistics industries. As a founding member, Linfox is excited to help create workplaces where employees can thrive and we encourage you to become a member at healthyheads.org.au.

I am pleased but not satisfied with our safety performance this year of achieving single digit Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) and Motor Vehicle Incident Frequency Rate (MVIFR) safety metrics. We must continue on our Vision Zero journey and cannot afford to rest on our laurels.

Linfox’s FY22 Safety, Health and Wellbeing strategy will bring us closer to achieving our Vision Zero goal. In FY22, we will accelerate leadership capability, strengthen controls to keep people safe and continue to embed mental health and wellbeing into everyday conversations, as we have done with safety.

Linfox has joined the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Coles to support the We Need Space road safety campaign. We Need Space highlights simple, conscious actions for road users when driving near heavy vehicles that will reduce incidents and contribute to saving lives.

Linfox was invited to attend a senate inquiry into the importance of a viable, safe and efficient road transport industry, led by Senator Glenn Sterle, Shadow Assistant Minister for Road Safety.

Senator Sterle gained first-hand insight into Linfox’s industry-leading safety culture on a tour of our Victoria operations. He also learnt about the rollout of a new digital fleet maintenance process that will allow us to work smarter by transforming the way we service fleet and equipment.

"Across these three enterprises, talking with staff only gave me encouragement to proudly express to all who may listen that Linfox, under the guidance of Lindsay and now Peter, truly is an exemplary Australian company in the road transport industry. A company which values their staff to a level that I have never seen before."

We were invited to attend the road transport enquiry on behalf of Linfox Armaguard Group. Armaguard plays a critical part in moving cash safely and securely from the Reserve Bank Australia to major banks and financial institutions, retailers and into the hands of all Australians. The atmx by Armaguard network is the future of efficient access to cash in Australia and will expand to over 2,000 ATMs in coming months.

Linfox recently announced a new property development strategically co-located with Pacific National at Adelaide Freight Terminal. Our construction of a world-class intermodal facility adjacent to the terminal will further strengthen Australia’s rail network. As Australia focuses on self-reliance in the wake of COVID-19, efficient national networks carry even greater importance.

The environmental benefits of moving freight from road to rail also align with Linfox’s journey to zero net emissions by 2030.

On a tour of the Volvo Trucks Australia manufacturing plant in Queensland, Prime Minister Scott Morrison thanked Linfox and the broader trucking industry in Australia for our efforts during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to drive the first new Volvo FL Electric truck in Australia, which will join the Linfox fleet this year. We will take another big step in our commitment to act sustainably with the trial of six electric vehicles on metropolitan routes this year. These vehicles of the future represent a remarkable turning point in the history of Linfox and our customers.

The Linfox Burapha Agro-Forestry alliance in Laos benefits from a highly diverse, skilled team.

Linfox International Group’s Burapha Agro-Forestry sustainable plantation in Laos is now fully operational. The Linfox-Burapha partnership is a significant investment in technology and local employment, and we are striving for a gender-diverse onsite team, with a 40 per cent female workforce expected.

As you will know, transport and logistics is traditionally a male-dominated industry. Linfox’s management team is committed to a gender diversity target of women holding 20 per cent of roles in our Australia and New Zealand operations by the end of FY22.

CEO Lion, Stuart Irvine, CEO Linfox Logistics Australia and New Zealand, Mark Mazurek and Linfox President BevChain, Misha Shliapnikoff joined me on a tour of BevChain’s world-class automated logistics facility in New South Wales. We are committed to collaborating with forward-thinking customers to work smarter as we set new standards in transport and distribution.

With purpose at the heart of our actions we will be guided by our Leading the Way 2025 strategy in FY22, while nurturing the culture required for ongoing innovation and sustainable, long-term value for our customers. Peter Fox Executive Chairman Linfox Pty Ltd
